The park is home to more than 90 species of wildlife, and guests can explore on foot, by bike, or by kayak with all manner of activities available.

Getting There
As we mentioned, Check PricesKimpton Hacienda Tres Rios is about midway between Tulum and Cancun. However, when you factor in that Tulum’s airport is actually farther from the resort, combined with the fact that it’s smaller and offers less regular flights, you will find that in most instances, Cancun Airport is the cheaper and more convenient option. From whichever airport you fly into, you can choose from private rentals, taxis transfers or public buses, though these will only get you as far as Playa del Carmen – we would avoid! As always, book online in advance with a reputable company for the best transfer deals.
Accommodation
The 547 rooms and suites of the Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios feature classic Caribbean décor with a generous touch of luxury, from the hand-crafted furnishings to the spa-style bathrooms (with rain showers and other upscale amenities). Balconies and terraces offer spectacular ocean views or of the surrounding tropical jungle based on which room you choose, and all rooms include classic all-inclusive services such as a minibar that is restocked daily, 24-hour room service, unlimited food and drink, water sports and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Dining and Drinking
The Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios features ten different dining venues and a further seven bars, so you won’t be short of options no matter your craving. Classic Mexican dishes with a gourmet twist are offered at Alebrije, while authentic pizzas and other Italian cuisine can be enjoyed at il Forno or Portobello. There’s a wide array of Asian dishes at Kotori, al fresco salads and grilled specialties at the Hacienda Grill and mouth-watering French sweet treats and coffee at Café de Paris (which is where you’ll find me in the mornings!). When it’s time for a cocktail, you can choose from several pool bars, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail at Tastings or head to Victory Sports Bar to enjoy a cool beer alongside the latest sports action.
Tres Rio Nature Park
The absolute standout of this resort is the exclusive access granted to the privately owned Tres Rio Nature Park. Guests can embrace the sights and sounds of the Mexican wilderness, exploring a number of different habitats. Guided touring is offered, as are other experiences such as cycling tours, snorkelling and kayaking, and guests can hope to spot some of the area’s wildlife, ranging from colourful birds to larger creatures such as monkeys. Where the park meets the sea, guests can explore a section of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world. The park is home to three rivers, all of which flow into the Caribbean Sea, as well as ten cenotes (natural sinkholes), unique formations that are worth seeing.
Conclusion
Newly re-opened under new management and with far more than a facelift, the family-friendly, Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios promises big things for those looking to unwind on the Mexican Yucatan. Enjoy all the sunshine, beaches, fine dining and glamour you expect from a luxury all-inclusive, plus embrace your wild side with exclusive access to a biodiverse and pristine eco park, teeming with wildlife and offering a range of memorable experiences for the entire family to enjoy.
