Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort was purchased for $18 million last year and a prospective new owner, Miraval Group, has an agreement that would give them a majority ownership of the 105-room resort.
The purchase is pending the Zoning Board of Appeals approval for Miraval to modify the existing zoning and permit. If permits are approved, the intention is to spend $20 million – $30 million on the resort. According the the application, Miraval’s plan is to renovate and re-purpose existing structures and add a new Spa and Well-being building and new guest cottage. A Fitness and Education building would replace the exiting spa.
The center of the resort would still be the Mansion and the proposal would include a new arrival area, renovations to the lobby, kitchen and dining area with a traditional New England design.
The intention for the Miraval Lenox plan is to reproduce their Tucson resort and the Dana Point, CA Life in Balance Spa at Monarch Beach Resort. The expansion would call for property improvement and increased jobs.
Miraval’s Tucson resort offers an all-inclusive experience and includes three meals, classes, activities and in most packages, a nightly spa allowance.
