Dominican Republic Increase in Tourism

Yes! The Dominican Republic is making a comeback and their numbers have soared to a new high for Thanksgiving travel!

In a nutshell:  Punta Cana is in the #1 position on the Top 10 list for Thanksgiving travel according to a recent survey from Allianz Global Assistance.  Cancun has dropped a notch for the first time since this survey began.

As you know, this is one of the biggest travel periods of the year. So –  over 2 million flight itineraries for Nov. 23 – Nov. 28 were analyzed by Allianz Global Assistance to reveal this data.  Even more revealing is that the Dominican Republic numbers are 4x what they were last year.  Wow!  That’s an incredible jump.

This comeback comes at a good time for an island that had so much negative news over the summer and the recent findings from the FBI certainly had something to do with the steady rise in tourism.   Nothing nefarious was going on and people have moved on.

It’s also no surprise that some great pricing has been a factor over the last several months and Black Friday and Cyber deals are out there, too.

So are you wondering about the rest of the Top 10 list?  Here you go -the full list of Top 10 International Destinations for Thanksgiving:
PUNTA CANA, Cancun, London, Paris, San Juan, Cabo, Nassau, Puerto Vallarta, Montego Bay, and Mexico City.
