[NEW] Melody Maker Cancun Opens

Fans of the old ME Cancun know it was long overdue for some renovations, hopefully they won’t be disappointed with it’s butterfly-like metamorphosis into the brand new Melody Maker Cancun.

In a Nutshell: Billing itself as “the world’s biggest party hotel”, the 679-room Melody Maker Cancun resort officially opened on December 7th, but some construction will be ongoing until late April 2019 (although the resort says it will take place only during the day, noise will be minimal, and guest services won’t be impacted).

Promising regularly scheduled events (free to guests of the resort but open to others) such as live concerts, and “the best DJs and artists from all around the world”, Melody Maker Cancun is poised to give some competition to the Cancun party scene as well as major music-promoting resort brands like Hard Rock Hotels and Resorts, albeit with more international artists than the big-name American concert acts other resorts promote to US-based vacationers.

The biggest differentiator we see is that Melody Maker Cancun is pet-friendly.

Yes, that’s right, you can bring Fido … as long as Fido weighs less than 22 lbs (10 kilos). There is an extra cost per stay and per day (they waive the daily fee for service animals) and the resort provides a puppy bed, a beach and pool towel, waste bags, food and water bowls, dog snacks and bottled water (both refreshed daily), and, wait for it – yes, a doggy day care (PETopia) as well as 1-on-1 dog sitting (both incur extra cost above the per stay/per day fee). Naturally there are some restrictions such as dogs are only allowed in certain designated pet areas (my guess is that doesn’t include restaurants) and can’t be left alone in your room for more than 2 hours at time. No idea what their bark policy is. Oh, and you’re limited to only 1 Fido per room.

Pack up the pooch, Martha, we’re goin’ to partay down Mexico-way!
