Dinner in the Sky, Anyone?

Dinner In The Sky Punta Cana
Dinner In The Sky Punta Cana

Hey, let me tell you about this new “dinner in the sky” thing they’ve got going on in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

You know, because regular dining just wasn’t high enough.

The sadists company behind this call it an “extreme culinary experience“. You’re supposed to enjoy your food while you’re hanging up in the air like a puppet on a string. Ain’t that just grand?

In a nutshellSo here’s the deal, folks. You’re suspended 150 feet in the air, strapped to a seat at a table for 22. And you’re supposed to eat dinner up there. You’ll be surrounded by a group of like-minded idiots thrill-seekers, all eager to experience the ultimate dinner party.

Live life on the edge“, they say. “Embrace the thrill of the unknown“, I’m advised.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I like to eat my food on a nice, sturdy table, preferably one that’s not dangling from a crane. But hey, that’s just me.

And get this, they’ve got a chef up there cooking for you. I mean, what could possibly go wrong, right?!?

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be up in the air, trying to keep my food down, while some guy is juggling pots and pans (and flames?) and trying not to fall off his little platform. No, sir.

But hey, if you’re into that sort of thing, go ahead and give it a try.

Prices range from $150 per person for cocktails and an appetizer, up to $1,180 per couple for a private dinner (I guess that’s their version of the “mile high” club?).

Just make sure you’ve got a strong stomach and a good grip on your seat….and don’t drop your napkin, or your wallet, this gig is unconnected with any all-inclusive resort, which means it ain’t included.

We also strongly advise that you go potty before launch – you won’t be excusing yourself to use the rest room during dinner…..and make sure your footwear is firmly attached (no flip-flops!).

Personally, I’ll stick to dining on solid ground, thank you very much.

I’ll keep that nice soft ground-based sand warm for ya!

~Jake
