Marriott is all in on all-inclusives – and Barbados is the big winner.
It’s an exciting time in the All Inclusive world. Now Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott are all investing in expanding their all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.
With a current total of 588 rooms, Elegant’s Hotels include Colony Club, Tamarind (latest to go all-inclusive), The House, Crystal Cove, Turtle Beach, Waves Hotel & Spa, and Treasure Beach. Most of these are currently all-inclusive and Marriott will begin renovations once the deal is closed. They will all be all-inclusive – a major increase in their portfolio in one full sweep. No news yet as to which brand these will fall under and it could be under several – Tribute, Autograph – ?
The sale is certainly good news for Elegant Hotel’s shareholders and current employees should benefit by being part of a larger hotel brand. Elegant also owns Daphne’s, a beachfront restaurant.
Marriott intends to market (over time) the Elegant Hotels for sale as part of their ‘asset-light’ strategy and Marriott would then continue to manage the hotels.
These seven Barbados hotels are in addition to the four all-inclusive Marriott resorts opening in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico and one in the Dominican Republic. Opening dates for these Marriott all-inclusives range from 2022 – 2025.
Where will Marriott’s all-inclusive growth take them to next?
