Greta Garbo, who famously shunned crowds in her later years, would have loved the new Reef 28 in hip downtown Playa del Carmen, I just know it.

In a Nutshell: Recently fully remodeled, the adults-only and too-hip-for-most-of-us 28-room (all suites) all-inclusive Reef 28 has re-opened in the bustling downtown Playa del Carmen tourist district.

Full Disclosure: I don’t tan. I just thought you might like to know that.

So it really doesn’t matter to me if an all-inclusive resort is located smack-dab on the beach, as I rarely spend time there anyway. Us non-tanners generally prefer to be off shopping or exploring anyway.

Anyhoo, the new Reef 28 is ideal for people like me because it’s located right in the best part of PdC — where all the shops, cafes, and (most importantly) bars are. I lived in Playa del Carmen for a while so I know that area very well….trust me, it’s where you’ll want to be anyway.

And speaking of bars (it really isn’t all I think about, but close..), the rooftop bar and pool at Reef 28 totally rocks, with a great view of the ocean and a DJ who amps up the energy by spinning party tunes in the late afternoon and evenings.

More stats: Two more great bars (in addition to the rooftop bar), three restaurants and a buffet (all featuring authentic and freshly made gourmet cuisine), and the kind of VIP pampering only a small boutique resort can deliver.

And for those of you who DO love the beach, it’s just a super-short walk away, guests have complimentary access to the exclusive Mamitas Beach Club as well as a full service Spa also located at the beach.
