Hotels in the Caribbean and Mexico are operating at about 30% occupancy during this pandemic summer and one Jamaican Resort just made a difficult decision.

In a nutshell: Couples Resorts closes San Souci and Negril Resorts due to low occupancy and they’ll be closed from September 1 – November 30th. Tower Isle and Swept Away remain open.

First, if you were planning on San Souci and Negril for the Au Naturel Beach – no worries – Tower Isle has you covered (well, not really, but they have au naturel).

Couples is offering the following options to San Souci and Negril Guests:

  1. Transfer the same exact booking to a comparable room category at Couples Swept Away or Couples Tower Isle. Guests will receive $300 resort credit + Club Mobay Departure pass for 2020 stay and 1-free night valid for all of 2021 with no restrictions (except on minimum of 3 paid nights). Free night Vouchers and VIP Club Mobay passes will be given on departure.
  2. Guests can reschedule their 2020 reservations for travel January 1, 2021– December 24, 2021, at their current 2020 rates.
  3.  Cancel for a full refund on the hotel portion only.

Once you choose your compensation – contact your travel advisor to revise your stay (or Couples Resorts if you didn’t work with a travel professional).

Check PricesTower Isle, with 226 rooms and suites, also has six restaurants, five bars, plenty of space to socially distance at their four pools, and this is the resort with the Private Au Naturel Island.

Check PricesSwept Away, with 312 suites, also has plenty of space for social distancing with its three pools, six restaurants, eight bars, and a 10-acre Sports & Fitness Complex.

Couples also had plans to renovate the San Souci Resort earlier this year and it was postponed due to COVID. Will they use this closure as an opportunity to begin?  Too soon to tell, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates.

We also have an update on traveling to Jamaica:
All residents of the United States of America, Brazil, Dominican Republic or Mexico who are 12 years of age or over, with travel dates of August 20, 2020 or later will be required to obtain a COVID-19 RT-PCR test and you can find out more about the Travel Authorization here.
