Wowza, Planet Hollywood is on a tear, aren’t they?

In a Nutshell: Canadian super-agency Sunwing Travel Group has inked a deal with celebrity-memorabilia-themed restaurant and hotel brand Planet Hollywood to expand operations and break into the all-inclusive resort industry beginning with three Caribbean resorts to be located in Mexico, Costa Rica, and St. Maarten.

Riding the wave of popularity that is all-inclusive vacation travel, Planet Hollywood is breathing new life into their brand, which previously consisted of a hotel and casino in Las Vegas, NV, a beach resort in Goa, India, and logo wear.

While not many specifics have been announced yet, you can be sure the new Cancun resort – like the others – will feature plenty of celebrity memorabilia, some celebrity-chef themed dining venues (like Guy Fieri’s Burger Joint), activities and “curated entertainment experiences”, all the PH logo wear you could want, and a bunch of other cutesy “PH” stuff like PHTV and PHabulous Beds.

With Sunwing’s reputation and $600m investment, you can also be sure that the brand will be making a name for great locations, luxury accommodations, gourmet cuisine, and the level of service that will allow them to hold their own in what has become a highly competitive no-longer-your-grandpa’s all-inclusive industry.

Planet Hollywood Cancun is scheduled to open sometime in the spring of 2019, and will be the third Planet Hollywood resort in the Caribbean, including Planet Hollywood Costa Rica (set to open in October 2018) and the recently-announced Planet Hollywood on Great Bay in St Maarten (opening late 2018).
