Planet Hollywood Opens New All Inclusive on St. Maarten
Caribjournal.com - the site of the former Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort (pictured) will be the home of the new Planet Hollywood in St. Maarten

Yes, that Planet Hollywood — the iconic 90s-era restaurant chain that gave us celebrity memorabilia to gawk at while eating comfort food — is making a ‘Splash’ into the all-inclusive resort market in a big way, opening another new resort in St. Maarten.

In a Nutshell: Planet Hollywood Hotels plans to open a 450-room all-inclusive resort on the site of the former Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort and Casino on the Dutch side of the island. No opening date announced yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

This will be the second all-inclusive resort for the Planet Hollywood brand, with their Planet Hollywood Beach Resort soon to open (late fall 2018) in Papagayo, Costa Rica.

The (former) Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort was destroyed by Hurricane Irma, with damage so extensive that it was eventually demolished, so this will be a ground-up new build and as yet artist renderings have not been released, but we’ll update this as soon as we get some pics.

Hmm…I wonder if Sly Stallone or Bruce Willis will be at the grand opening?
