In case you missed it, the latest CDC requirement goes into effect on January 26th and requires passengers to get tested no more than 3 days before their flight to the U.S.
All inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean have responded quickly in regards to the new CDC requirement.
So many questions came up for all inclusive resorts so we’ll answer them below and will update this as we receive additional information.
AIC Hotel Group
This resort group, which includes Hard Rock Hotels, UNICO 20˚87˚ Hotel Riviera Maya and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, will offer affordable onsite testing options and medical assistance for guests.
What you need to know:
- Onsite Testing – all existing and new U.S. reservations of 3 or more nights booked by February 28, 2021 checking out between January 26 and December 31, 2021 or until the government mandate is lifted will receive 2 complimentary antigen tests per room. Additional tests can be purchased for $50 USD.
- Antigen testing meets these CDC requirements, and must be taken within 3 calendar days before your departing flight to the U.S.
- Onsite Medical Assistance – resorts will also provide complimentary onsite medical assistance* for all existing and new reservations traveling until December 31, 2021 or until the government mandate is lifted.
- In the event that a guest tests positive for COVID-19 while at the hotel, the onsite medical assistance will cover the cost of their extended hotel stay as they quarantine.
- Onsite medical assistance is provided by a third party company and does not cover cancellations.
- Medical Assistance during the stay for sudden illness or accident: $10,000 USD
- Medication: $1500 USD
- Ground Ambulance – 1 Transfer
- Hotel payment due to convalescence – Up to $150 USD per night, maximum of 10-nights
- Travel Interruption – $1000 USD
- Online doctor, hotel doctor, and transfer of a family member due to convalescence – covered
AMResorts
AMResorts include Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Breathless Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Now Resorts & Spas, Reflect Resorts & Spas, and Sunscape Resorts & Spas.
What you need to know:
- The CleanComplete Verification program has been expanded and will also now include COVID-19 antigen testing on-property at no cost to guests traveling to the U.S.
- On-site property testing will be administered by Hospiten, an international private hospital network, across most of the AMResorts destinations
- Test results will be received the same day in written format as required by the CDC.
- Guests should contact the concierge at each resort upon arrival to schedule departure testing
- If a guest receives a positive test while on property that prevents departure, the cost of quarantine at the property will be covered for up to 14 days.
- Extended stay due to quarantine includes the guest plus one travel companion sharing the same room. This program is valid for travel through March 31, 2021.
- Testing protocols have been adjusted based on in-country resources and protocols for the following:
- Curacao properties will provide the viral antigen test at no cost to guests at an off-site testing location (3-night minimum stay for free testing)
- Saint Martin and Costa Rica do not currently offer the COVID-19 viral antigen test in destination. The resort will help facilitate the CDC required testing at an off-site location with an additional cost to guests.
Also, AMResorts will extend its ‘Move the Date, Keep the Rate + a free night policy’ for guests at its all inclusive resorts that want to make adjustments to existing reservations. This will apply for reservations booked through February 28, 2021 for travel completed by April 30, 2021.
ATELIER de Hoteles
ATELIER de Hoteles has implemented the PCR and NAAT Tests Service in its Shielded Vacations® protocols to ensure a smooth journey back home.
What you need to know:
For guests staying at ATELIER Playa Mujeres and ESTUDIO Playa Mujeres – you may request the PCR and NAAT Tests Service based on the following:
- This service is provided by an external laboratory on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from 10 am to 12 pm (noon)
- Samples are collected in a designated area within the hotel’s premises to prevent guests from leaving the facilities
- Guests must request their laboratories at least 3 days in advance before their flight departure date (according to the latest CDC requirements)
- Appointments can be scheduled through the Concierge desk
- The cost of this service is per person and detailed information can be consulted through the Concierge desk. The laboratory accepts major credit cards and cash
- The results will be delivered via email 24 hours after the sample collection
Guests staying at ÓLEO Cancún Playa can request this service with a prior appointment or visit scheduled through the Concierge desk.sorts
Blue Diamond Resorts
All inclusive resorts include Grand Lido Negril Resort, Hideaway at Royalton, Memories Resorts & Spa, Mystique by Royalton, Planet Hollywood Hotels & Resorts, Royalton Luxury Resorts, Starfish Resort.
What you need to know:
- Blue Diamond Resorts will be offering free on-site COVID-19 viral tests and Medical Assistance as of January 26th
- Medical Assistance coverage will cover the cost of any accidents or illness, including COVID-19 related medical needs
- Testing will be offered free of charge for guests traveling by air from the United States to Cancun, Punta Cana and Jamaica until March 31, 2021 or until the regulations regarding this new requirement change
- Guests are advised to schedule their appointment with Guest Services upon arrival at their property
- Test results will be available the same day and will be delivered to the guest’s room or available at the Front Desk
- Guests arriving in St. Lucia and Antigua: the viral antigen testing is available on property at an extra cost of $150 -$200.
- Note that the results in Antigua take up to 72 hours
- Guests arriving in Costa Rica – the Ministry of Health has not approved the viral antigen test yet, but PCR tests are available upon appointment at the property at a cost of $150 USD
- Results are available after 36-48 hours
Regarding the Medical Assistance via MAS Services:
- All guests arriving from the United States will have access to the extended medical assistance coverage, which covers the cost of any accidents or illness, including COVID-19 related medical needs while on vacation. Coverage can be shared by up to four travelers and includes, but is not limited to, medical assistance for accidents, outpatient medication, emergency medical transportation, assistance with locating lost or stolen luggage, 24-hour legal assistance, travel disruption, hotel expenses for convalescence and more.

Club Med
Club Med has all inclusive resorts around the world with a new opening later this year in Canada.
What you need to know:
- Club Med is offering free in-resort antigen testing at Club Med Cancún, Club Med Punta Cana, Turkoise, Turks & Caicos and Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda
- Testing appointments will be booked upon arrival and conducted prior to departure according to CDC guidelines.
What if the test is positive?
The G.M. (guest) will be asked to complete a 10-day self-isolation period at the resort and that will be covered through Club Med’s Emergency Assistance Program. After 10 days of self-isolation at the resort, the G.M. will be tested again for COVID-19. If the result is negative, the G.M. will be able to return to the U.S.

Couples Resorts
All inclusive resorts include Couples Tower Isle, Couples San Souci, Couples Negril, and Couples Swept Away.
What you need to know:
- Couples Resorts will provide rapid antigen testing to guests free of charge (not valid on complimentary stays)
- Testing will be conducted on property by a contracted medical provider within three days of departure
If a guest does test positive, he/she will be quarantined on property pending direction from the Ministry of Health regarding accommodation requirements. If the recommendation by the Ministry of Health is to continue isolation on property – Couples resorts will provide complimentary accommodations for two for up to 14 days.
More all inclusive resorts …
The Excellence Collection
This collection includes the following all inclusive resorts – Excellence Playa Mujeres, Excellence Riviera Cancun, Excellence El Carmen,
Excellence Oyster Bay, Excellence Punta Cana, Finest Playa Mujeres, Finest Punta Cana and Beloved Playa Mujeres,
What you need to know:
- These measures begin January 18, 2021 for Canada and January 23, 2021 for the USA and go through February 28, 2021
- The Excellence Collection is providing the test for free to guests with a return flight to a country that requires the negative COVID-19 results
- The test is an Antigen for the USA and PCR for Canada, which are the COVID-19 viral tests accepted by these and other countries for reentry
- Excellence will monitor (international air requirements) so the free testing option could possibly be changed, modified, or extended after February, 28 2021
Note: For guests who wish to have the test but whose countries do not require it, the cost is $150 usd plus tax per PCR test.
If a US citizens would like to take the PCR test as an additional option to the Antigen test, The Excellence Collection will bear part of the cost.
What if the test is positive?
- If a guest tests positive for the COVID-19 test, the on-site Doctor will contact the guest and determine the symptoms
- If the guest does not present any symptoms, he/she will go to the isolation rooms that have been established and the COVID-19 protocol will be activated at the hotel
- The positive COVID-19 guest will be relocated as well as their companion to two separate rooms, if the companion wants to stay.
- In both cases, the stay will have no additional cost for a maximum of up to 14 days and it will be necessary for the companion to follow the security protocols established by The Excellence Collection at the hotel.
- If the guest presents symptoms and if the Doctor determines it, the guest will go to the hospital for an evaluation where they will determine if the guest should stay hospitalized or if he/she can return to the isolation room at the hotel. The average is 14 days, it will depend on the health condition of the guest.
- For guests who must extend their original stay for having tested positive, they will be given a distress rate of $125 USD per person per night for adults, 50% of the rate for children between 3-12 years old and free for children under 3 years.
Haven Resorts & Spas
Haven Riviera Cancun is located between Cancun and Riviera Maya.
What you need to know:
- Haven Resorts & Spas will be providing complimentary antigen testing on-property for guests traveling to the U.S. or Canada (effective Jan. 26 through March 31)
- On-site antigen testing will be administered by Hospiten, Monday through Friday, in a designated area of the resort
- Guests should register upon arrival for their preferred date and time on a first-come, first-serve basis
- Once the appointment is made, Hospiten will take a sample by a medical personnel for the antigen test
- The result should be available in 30 minutes and will delivered to the guest by means of a certificate in two languages (Spanish and English)
- Should a guest wish to have a PCR test, these will also be available for a fee of $150 US + Taxes . These results will take approximately 72-hours.
Guests are also required to provide a CDC Attestation to the Airline upon their return to the U.S.
And, if a guests should test positive and need to quarantine – special rates will be made available for their extended stay and one companion sharing the same room.
Hedonism II
“We want to let our valued guests know that there is no need to cancel a reservation due to this new CDC order, as we are working to ensure that everyone can meet this government requirement in anticipation of their return home in a seamless and timely fashion. We want everyone to enjoy their stay at Hedonism II without any added stress or concern. We’ll take care of the logistics so our guests can focus on enjoying their time with us,” stated Dermot De Loughry, General Manager.
What you need to know:
- Hedonism II will provide a complimentary FDA-approved antigen (rapid) tests to paying guests on site at the resort (through 3/31/2021)
- Guests may arrange the testing appointment with the concierge upon arrival at the resort
What happens if a guest tests positive?
Hedonism II will provide quarantine accommodations at the resort for the mandatory wait period of 14 days. In the event the guest health deteriorates further the Ministry of Health may insist that the guest(s) be transferred to an on-island medical facility (until a doctor certifies clearance for travel with a negative test result).

Hyatt Resorts
Hyatt has all inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean and Mexico under the names Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva, as well as other resorts.
What you need to know:
- Hyatt is offering complimentary On-Property COVID-19 Testing through May 31, 2021
- This is valid for up to two registered guests per guestroom per stay
- Options include either the rapid antigen or RT-PCR tests (minimum length of stay requirements per hotel)
- Hotels are extending the Travel Delay Rate to guests who cannot complete their travel due to test-related reasons (these are up to a 50% savings on standard rates and exclude Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara properties).

Iberostar
Iberostar has all inclusive resorts in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Brazil.
What you need to know:
- Beginning January 26th, guests will now be able to take the COVID-19 antigen test on site before returning to the U.S. at no additional cost
- All properties with the exception of Iberostar Cozumel will have on-resort testing. Cozumel guests will be able to take both the antigen (complimentary) and PCR (at cost) tests at an accredited clinic 30 minutes from the hotel.
- Guests will be advised upon arrival regarding the details of the testing process and will be able to schedule the appointment in advance
- Tests will be offered through at least March 31, 2021
- If a guest wants to take the PCR test, they’ll be available at a cost
- If a guest tests positive, Ibersotar will provide services through Travel At Ease, which includes extension of stay at no cost up to 10-days

Karisma Hotels
All inclusive resorts for Karisma are covered with this new update in response to the CDC order.
What you need to know:
- Karisma Hotels is offering free, on-Site Covid-19 testing for guests through March 31, 2021
- All Karisma Hotels & Resorts in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica will offer complimentary, on-site covid-19 antigen testing
- Testing will be available free of charge at the hotels for guests departing as of January 26 in response to new CDC requirements
- If a guest’s test results are positive:
- Karisma will provide quarantine accommodations until a doctor certifies clearance for travel with a negative test result for a period not to exceed 14 nights
- These amenities are available for guests traveling through March 31, 2021. Policies are subject to be reviewed and changed according covid-19 protocol updates
Wondering how the resort will ensure that those that test positive for Covid-19 remain quarantined?
All quarantined guests will be placed in rooms on the first floor of the resort and a security staff member will be nearby to ensure guests are not wandering the property.

La Coleccion Resorts
All inclusive resorts in this collection include Live Aqua Resorts, Grand Fiesta Americana Hotels & Resorts, Fiesta Americana Hotels & Resorts, and The Explorean Discovery Resorts.
What you need to know:
- La Coleccion Resorts will offer free antigen tests to guests at its beach hotels
- The resorts’ concierge desk will coordinate with local laboratories so guests can take the test inside hotel facilities 72 hours before their departure
- PCR tests will also be available at an additional cost and may be administered off-site according to each destination
Guests can also add the Travel with Confidence Protection program. This offers guests full coverage of accidents or illnesses (including COVID-19) from the time of check-in to check-out and telehealth assistance for up to 72 hours, hotel expenses during recovery, and 24-hour services among other benefits at an extra cost of $4 USD per night.
Should a guest test positive, a substantial discounted nightly rate of $10 per night (plus taxes), per person, will be offered during quarantine.
Majestic Resorts
All inclusive resorts for Majestic include Majestic Colonial Punta Cana, Majestic Elegance Punta Cana, Majestic Mirage Punta Cana – All Suites, and Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres.
What you need to know:
- Negotiated rates will be $100 USD in Mexico and $80 USD in the Dominican Republic for the PCR tests
- The Antigen tests will be $50 USD in Mexico and $30 USD in the Dominican Republic
- In Mexico, Majestic Resorts is offering testing at its resorts
- In the Dominican Republic, the Antigen test can be done at the resorts, but the PCR is at the hospital.
- The resort negotiated a transfer rate of $25 USD round trip
- If guests test positive, they’ll be monitored (at no cost) by the Majestic Care doctor.
- If the symptoms are non-existing or mild, they may quarantine at the resort (without leaving their room), they will be constantly monitored by the doctor, and have room service.
- If the symptoms worsen they will be taken to the hospital.
- Punta Cana, DR: Centro Medico Punta Cana
- Costa Mujeres, MX: Hospiten Cancún
- Majestic has special rates of $100 USD per person per night (based on double occupancy) and $120 USD per night (Single) and these are paid directly to the resort
Note that Majestic Care may cover a portion of this cost.
Original Group Resorts
All inclusive resorts include Temptation Resort, Riviera Maya Pearl Resort and Desire Riviera Maya Resort.
What you need to know:
- Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests will be provided by Hospiten, a renowned international hospital group
- This applies to couples staying a minimum 3 nights in any room category and checking out as of Jan. 26
- If guests are staying less than 3 nights – tests will be available to them at a preferred rate of $50 USD per test
- Tests results are delivered on a same-day basis
What happens if a guest tests positive?
In the event of a positive test, guests will spend the 14-day period required in a specially designated room at a special rate of $125 USD per person, per night.
Guests will be provided with food and beverages, linens, cleaning products, etc. All items will be left by the room’s door as due to safety measures, staff members are not allowed to interact with guests in the specially designated rooms.
Palace Resorts
Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Spa Resorts expanded its Purely Palace and Purely Le Blanc programs for its all inclusive resorts.
What you need to know:
- Onsite COVID-19 Antigen (rapid) testing is now available at all Palace Resorts throughout Mexico & Jamaica
- These tests will be conducted on property at no cost to guests (for up to two guests per room) traveling to the United States
- Testing and samples will be administered by experienced in-house lab teams
- The results will be received within 30 minutes
- Documentation will be ready for guests to present at the airport for their journey back home
- Guests can contact the concierge to schedule their departure test as soon as they check-in
If guests require a PCR test, the concierge will help facilitate testing onsite through a third party and additional fees will apply.
What if you test positive?
Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Spa Resorts will cover the cost of quarantine for up to 14 days at no cost to guests, for up to two guests per room (should both guests test positive).
Additional rapid tests will be available at a minimal cost of $19 per guest.
Palladium Hotel Group
All inclusive resorts include TRS Cap Cana Hotel, TRS Turquesa Hotel, TRS Yucatan and TRS Coral. Grand Palladium Resorts in Punta Cana, Jamaica, and Mexico. Dominican Fiesta in Santo Domingo.
What you need to know:
- Palladium Hotel Group is extending its Stay Safe Plus FREE Health Insurance™ and its White Book Health & Safety Protocols™
- The free insurance (and protocols) will now include the COVID-19 antigen testing on-property at no cost until April 4th, 2021
- On-site property testing will be administered by certified labs and hospitals in partnership with Palladium’s in-house doctors at destinations in Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic
- Test results will be received the same day in written format as required by the CDC
- Contact the front desk at your resort upon arrival to schedule the test (both the antigen (free) and PCR (fee based) will be done on property)
What if a guest tests positive?
The resort says that the Stay Safe Plus FREE Health Insurance™ will go into effect. The cost of quarantine at the property will be covered for up to 10 days. Extended stay due to quarantine includes the guest, who will be isolated; plus, up to 3 (three) travel companions sharing the same room.

Playa Hotels
All inclusive resorts include Hyatt Zilara Cancun, Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Turquoize Cancun (adults only at Hyatt Ziva), Panama Jack Resorts Cancun, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, Hilton Playa Del Carmen Adult Resort, Panama Jack Resorts Playa Del Carmen, and Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. Jamaica resorts include Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall, Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, Hilton Rose Hall, Jewel Grande, and Jewel Paradise Cove Adult Resort. What you need to know:
- Playa offers complimentary onsite COVID-19 antigen testing (January 22 through April 30, 2021)
- Based on 3-Night Stay in Mexico and the Dominican Republic
- Based on 5-Night Stay in Jamaica – $49 per Antigen test for stays less than 5-Nights in Jamaica resorts
- Negotiated discounts for PCR Test
Also, if a guest does not receive test results prior to departure (through no fault of their own), they’ll receive a complimentary accommodation from the original departure date through the earliest possible departure after test results are delivered.
What happens if you test positive?
Playa Hotels will work with guests and local health authorities, and will provide quarantine services for guests that test positive for COVID-19. As part of its quarantine service, they offer up to a 50% discount on accommodations for guests needing to quarantine up to 14 days.

RIU Hotels and Resorts
All inclusive resorts throughout Mexico, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, and beyond.
What you need to know:
- Effective January 26th, guests will now be able to take the COVID-19 antigen test on site at no additional cost for all adults and children
- This service is available at all Riu resorts in Mexico, Jamaica and Punta Cana and will be provided by an accredited medical testing lab that complies with the requirements of the CDC
- Test results will be received within 72 hours prior to departure as required by the CDC, in written and/or electronic format
- Guests should contact the Front desk/Customer Service at each resort upon arrival to schedule departure testing.
If a guest tests positive to COVID-19 during their stay, Riu Hotels will provide an extension at no cost of up to 10 days. The extended stay, due to quarantine, includes the guest plus travel companions sharing the same room. This policy is valid for travel through March 31, 2021.

Sandals and Beaches Resorts
All inclusive resorts include Sandals Montego Bay, Royal Caribbean, Negril, South Coast, Ochi, and Royal Plantation in Jamaica. In the Bahamas – Royal Bahamian, Emerald Bay. St. Lucia includes Sandals Regency La Toc, Grande St. Lucian, and Halcyon Beach. Sandals Barbados, Sandals Royal Barbados, Sandals Grand Antigua and Sandals Grenada. Beaches Turks & Caicos, Beaches Negril, and Beaches Ocho Rios.
What you need to know:
Sandals and Beaches Resorts, will offer complimentary COVID-19 testing across all of its resorts beginning January 26 – March 31, 2021
Tests will be conducted by approved and practiced medical professionals with guests’ maximum convenience in mind and minimal distraction to their overall vacation experience
Resort staff will assist guests with scheduling their COVID-19 tests at least 72 hours prior to departure
Test results will be available within 24-48 hours.
If a guest tests positive:
- All resorts are equipped with medical stations staffed daily with a registered nurse and 24/7 on-call medical personnel
- Through the Travel Protection Insurance that Sandals offers, guests are covered for an extension of their stay to quarantine and to receive any necessary medical treatment for up to 14 nights at no extra cost.
- Additional benefits of the plan include coverage of medical expenses and maximum benefits of up to $100,000 per guest.

Travel Insurance details for Beaches Resorts
Keep in mind that one of the other benefits is Sandals Resorts Travel Protection Plan. All reservations made through February 28, 2021 for travel until August 31, 2021 will automatically receive insurance coverage for medical expenses during the stay and several additional benefits – this is all covered by Sandals.
Serenade Punta Cana
Serenade Punta Cana Beach & Spa Resort is the first of all inclusive resorts for Best Hotels.
What you need to know:
- Serenade is offering the COVID-19 antigen test for $50 USD per person (from U.S.) starting on Feb. 1, 2021 to meet the new guidelines for air passengers traveling to the United States
- New reservations that are a minimum of four nights will have the test included in their stay when booked via the resort’s website
- Serenade Punta Cana partnered with Hospiten Hospital and will administer tests in a private area at the resort
- Guests must make an appointment for 72 hours prior to their departure from the Dominican Republic and will be given the antigen test results in 20-30 minutes
- Each guest will be provided with a certificate of their results in English and Spanish, delivered to their room or reception, which is to be presented to their air carrier upon departure
- COVID-19 Departure Testing for Canadians – Guests can visit the resort’s onsite doctor to make a PCR testing appointments at nearby Hospiten Hospital.
- The PCR test is US$125 per person (Canada) and must be administered within 72 hours of the traveler’s scheduled time of departure to Canada.

Velas Resorts
Velas has several all inclusive resorts including Grand Velas Los Cabos, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Grand Velas Riviera Maya, and Casa Velas.
What you need to know:
- Velas Resorts is offering a COMPLIMENTARY antigen test in-house at the resorts
- Guests will not have to leave the property and the results will be provided via email within 24 hours
- If a guest tests positive for COVID-19 and requests to extend a reservation at one of the hotels, Velas Resorts offers a 75% discount on its listed web rates
- An extra suite is also offered (complimentary) for the person who received a positive result to safely and securely quarantine separate from their family or other traveling companions if they choose
- Designated suites are reserved away from other guests with strict Covid protocols in place
- The stay will be subject to European Plan or All-Inclusive based on the hotel’s current offering for up to 14 nights
